Jamaica No Problem

This set is about Jamaica tourism culture and the misconceptions behind the popular phrase “Jamaica No Problem”. My concept involves juxtaposing the idea of “Jamaica No Problem” by using tourists, product and popular activities consumed by tourists, with headlines of negative events in Jamaica published in the Jamaica Observer, a popular newspaper in the country. The three issues of my publication are Jamaica No Problem, Zebras In Jamaica, and Braids! Jamaica Vacation. I correlated each book with the colors of the Jamaican flag.

Jamaica No Problem matches to yellow, representing the prosperity and sunshine of the country. Using images of products with “Jamaica No Problem” plastered all over them talks about Jamaican tourism in general, with it being the countries main source of income.

Black represents the countries people; Braids! Jamaica Vacation explores a more intimate relationship between tourists and the Jamaican people providing a service.

Green symbolizes the countries land; Zebras In Jamaica shows how Jamaica’s land has been changed and used for the benifit of the tourist.
